Camping & Pit Rules

Motorized Vehicle Policy (Camping & Pit Area)

Failure to follow this policy may result in racer disqualification or being asked to leave the premises.

No one under the age of 18 may operate any motorized vehicle inside the venue except their race vehicle, and only under these conditions:

  • Race vehicle from camp to registration and back.
  • Race vehicle from camp to tech inspection and back.
  • Race vehicle from camp to the starting line and back.
  • Race vehicle from camp to camp to receive assistance with repairs.

Under no circumstances will a person under 18 operate any other motorized vehicle, including golf carts. The only exception is a street-legal passenger vehicle operated by a licensed driver age 16 or older — not including golf carts — entering or exiting the venue.

Helmets are required at all times for anyone under 18 operating their race vehicle or riding as a passenger in any golf cart, UTV, motorcycle, quad, pit bike, or OHV. This includes going to and from tech inspection. A penalty or disqualification will apply if caught without a helmet.

If a non-racer in your camp breaks these rules, the racer in that camp will be assessed the penalty.

Non-motorized vehicles (bicycles, skateboards, etc.) must follow all applicable state, county, and city safety laws — including helmet requirements.

Follow the rules and there will be no reason to be upset.

Other Rules

  • No play riding. Anyone caught riding in the pits or camping area will be disqualified — no refunds.
  • Helmets must be worn at all times.
  • Campfires must be in metal containers only.
  • Keep pets on a leash.
  • No children on bicycles near the race course.
  • No drones without AZOP's permission.
  • Please pack out all your trash.
  • Read the rules on our website before you race: www.azopracing.com
  • T-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts are available at the AZOP registration trailer.
  • Be respectful to registration and scoring personnel — yelling and rude behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Pit area on the course: 5 MPH. Speeding may result in a penalty during the race.
  • 5 MPH through the scoring chute and in front of the AZOP trailer. Speeding will result in a penalty.
  • Do not approach the scoring trailer to talk to personnel. Scoring questions must go to the Registration table — never during a race.
  • Protests and questions about results are handled by our Referee, Richie Rees.
  • Stay 25 feet behind the race course. Do not go onto the course.
  • There is a 30-minute protest period after results are posted — no exceptions.
  • Sweep riders and watchers are stationed throughout the course. Stay on the marked track or you may be disqualified for cutting the course.
  • If you see a downed rider, please stop to check on them and report their mile marker to the next sweep rider or checkpoint.
  • Thanks for coming — have a great time and have fun. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy the races.
